Community Council opposed to Post Office relocation

Following their January meeting, Braehead & District Community Council Chair Chris Kane has written to Post Office Ltd with an official objection to the proposed move of our community’s Post Office facilities away from Springfield Road to Wishart Drive.

Chris Kane says,

“The government commissioned a report last year on the social value of the Post Office and it says that quality of service, distance from where users begin their journey and waiting times are the most important aspects for customers, while extended opening hours is the least important aspect. That’s exactly the feedback I’m getting as I speak to residents, which is totally at odds with what Post Office Ltd claim are the benefits of the proposed move. Post Office Ltd are completely wrong to claim that the new service will be in the “heart of our community”. The Springfield Road Post Office, primary school, church and community garden make up a hub at the heart of our community – and this proposed move weakens that. For those reasons we have objected to the proposed move and I would urge everybody to give Post Office Ltd their views before the consultation closes on 15th February.”
